FAStT600e 4 to 8 Storage Partition Activation
The FAStT600 is a mid-level storage server that can scale to over eight terabytes of fibre channel disk using 3 EXP700s, over sixteen terabytes of fibre channel disk with the Turbo feature using 7 EXP100s. It uses the latest in storage networking technology to provide an end-to-end 2 Gbps Fibre Channel solution. As part of the IBM FAStT family, the Model 600 with Turbo uses the same common storage management software and high performance hardware design, providing clients with enterprise like capabilities found in high end models, but at a much lower cost. The new FAStT Storage Manager v8.4 enables up to 256 logical volumes (LUNs) per storage partition, definition of array groups greater than 2TB, and SCSI-3 Persisitent Reservation. FlashCopy with VolumeCopy, a new function for a complete logical volume copy within the FAStT Storage Server is available on the FAStT600 Turbo.
Coupled with the EXP100 the FAStT600 and FAStT600 with Turbo feature allows you to configure RAID protected storage solutions of up to 28 TB to help provide economical and scalable storage for your rapidly growing application needs for limited access, data reference, and near-line storage.

Use the HP StorageWorks 600 Modular Disk System as part of a straight-forward in-rack 3Gb/s SAS implementation that delivers high-density, low-cost external zoned direct attach storage for HP BladeSystem servers. You can easily configure storage on the fly with easy to use management software. Up to six MDS600 storage devices can be supported off a single BladeSystem enclosure for up to 420 TB of capacity. End-to-end 3 Gb/s SAS connectivity enables a high performance storage solution using an HP Smart Array P700m controller, 3Gb SAS BL switches, and the MDS600.
Coming in a 5U rackmount form factor, the HP StorageWorks 600 Modular Disk System supports seventy 3.5" LFF Universal hot pluggable SAS or SATA drives. Its two pull-out drive drawers supports hot plug large form factor dual-ported SAS or archival-class SATA drives(35 hot plug drives per drawer). Using the Virtual SAS Manager (VSM) in the HP StorageWorks 3Gb SAS BL switch, assign or 'zone' drives of the MDS600 directly to BladeSystem servers.
